RudaCure, a company specializing in developing treatments for 感觉障碍, announced that the 先导化合物 development research for RCI002 — currently in development as a 慢性疼痛治疗药 — has been selected as a supported project under the 韩国药物开发基金 (KDDF) 国家新药开发项目.
The 国家新药开发项目 is a cross-ministerial 研发 initiative that supports the full lifecycle of 新药开发 based on an 开放式创新 strategy involving 制药公司, academia, 研究所s, and hospitals, with the goal of strengthening the 全球竞争力 of 韩国's 制药 and 生物科技 industries and securing 制药 sovereignty as an essential national health requirement.
Through this program, RudaCure will receive approximately KRW 800 million in 研发 funding over two years and will conduct 联合研究 with the team of Professor Park Cheol-gyu at 嘉泉大学医学院, the lead institution.
The compound discovered by RudaCure selectively inhibits TRPV1 activity, and in prior research it demonstrated both TRPV1 inhibitory effects and pain reduction in 慢性疼痛 动物模型. Unlike existing TRPV1 antagonists, it does not cause 异常发热, making it expected to stand out as a highly effective 镇痛 with an excellent safety profile. Optimization research for commercialization will be carried out through this program.
